Rochester was one of the United States first explosive towns, becoming a mecca for inland industry and progress. Rochester is also home to several nationally recognized universities such as the Rochester Institute of Technology, the University of Rochester, and Monroe Community College is nearby as well. The city has a robust bar scene with many local breweries taking center stage. The most famous of them is Genesee Brewing Company which is a well-known nationwide brand. There is much to do on the lake on a warm day as from sailing, boating, tubing, and fishing. The weather in Rochester can be perfect in the summer time but in the winter the city can suffer from extreme cold and lake effect snow.
